Easter Program!

Today at Preschool Fayth had an Easter Program! All I have to say is, no wonder why the parents in my former first grade classes always LOVED the Hoedown! It's so fun being on the other side. The kids are Just TOOOO Stinkin' Cute!! I LOVED THE SILLY little songs and watching my cutie perform! Her little pink bunny nose melted my heart and her fun-loving attitude was charming! I think my face was going to crack I was smiling so much! She is just so DAMN cute...oh, I know...you're not suppose to say that about you own child...I don't care...I'm saying it!!
Thank you Cello Kids Preschool...you made my Easter perfect!!
And Gammy, sorry.......I just had to........she got that adorable bunny from you early!! I just had to have it for the photos!! Tonight the bunny is in the pram with the two babies!! We are enjoying him during this pre-Easter time!! Thanks, Gammy...He is just so-o-o-o cute!!

Busy Busy Days!!

On Sunday, Jon took the day off and we went on a driving tour of Dubai and headed to Ibn Battuta for a new "world" shopping experience. We were suppose to be spending the day at the Atlantis water park but we've had MAJOR rain everyday so far since Jill & Steve have been here so we deviated from the itinerary and headed to another MALL. On Sunday, there were floods everywhere because Dubai doesn't have drainage systems. We made the best of it and started our day with a yummy breakfast at the More Cafe located at the Gold and Diamond Park. We sipped warm cappuccinos and ate huge portions while Fayth downed a BIG FAT CHOCOLATE MUFFIN! That evening, we went on a walk in Downtown Burj Dubai and got to see the HUGE dancing fountains, the lit up streets & date trees, and the gorgeous Address Hotel. We ended up at Morelli's Gelato in the Dubai Mall. Fayth had here jammies on and thoroughly enjoyed the Gelato! She didn't care one bit she looked like "white trash!" It was a relaxing walk. We had some good laughs!!
Then on Monday, everyone minus Jon, headed to the Mall of the Emirates. We met Jon in the food court for lunch. Steve had been dying to have Lebanese and Fayth was dying for a pretzel dog!! They both had "happy" tummies after lunch! Then, Jill and Steve experienced the BIG SLOPE!! NO, they didn't ski, but they got to bundle up in down coats over their shorts and skirt. They rode up the chair lift, took pictures, made snowangels, and rode back down. All for the low price of 27.00 US for two people!! Actually, that is quite cheap for the "Experience!" They LOVED it and took some great photos. When they got out of the slopes, their noses were actually RED and cold. It was well worth it!! Something they will remember forever!!
While they were riding the chair lift, Fayth and I were riding the merry-go-round "Bug Style."
And finally, at nighttime, Jill and I headed to the famous Karama for cheap Louis Vuitton, every other brand knock off, and good times. Steve got to bake cupcakes with Fayth until Jon came home. He is such a trooper. Fayth had an Easter program on Tuesday and I wanted her to bake cupcakes to take. Steve ended up doing most of the work and they turned out super cute. Thanks...Stevie!!
While they were having fun in the kitchen...Cara, my girlfriend, "the pro of Karama" scooped us up at 4:45 in the pouring rain and we headed to Karama. I don't even think I can explain...it was unbelievable! Ask me sometime when I'm home and I'd be glad to give you more details. I ended up with a super cute Louis Vuitton wallet/wristlet and Jill negotiated a great TODS purse knockoff! We had fun, with prego Lauren, walking through the muck & puddles and eating our homemade PB Pitas and grapes. Yes, I packed us lunches...and we were happy we had them. We shopped until 9:00...it was a real workout!
So, as you can see...BUSY BUSY Days!!

Thank You AYSUN!!

The World Cup would not have been possible without my friend, Aysun. She came over at 1:30 to watch Fayth and kept her until about 10:00 p.m. She stayed at our home only until Fayth woke up from her nap and then scooped her up and took her back to her apartment. They went to the play area, she cooked special Turkish food for Fayth, and spent hours & hours of quality time together. Fayth adores Aysun and Aysun feels the same about Fayth!
Here's where the kicker comes in...
Don't you normally pay or buy your babysitter/friend a gift??...YES!!!...and we did...however; Aysun arrives with a HUGE new adorable dollie for Fayth. I was like, "What the *&^^ is THIS!" And she said, "A dollie for Fayth, just in case she freaks when she wakes up from here nap...and I wanted to get her something from me!" The thing that Aysun didn't know is that DOLLIES are like "GOD" to Fayth. She has been asking for a second one for months and we have not given in or wanted to spoil her rotten. We continue to tell her...one baby is enough for now. Well, AYSUN has won over the heart of Fayth and she LOVES her new dollie. The two dollies are now sisters and love each other dearly!! Thanks Aysun for being so special to our family! Fayth thanks you too!! You are WAY too kind!! Hugs, The Evenson's

Jill & Steve's Arrival...

Forgot about these photos...
Wanted to include a few!! They brought Fayth Goldfish crackers, her favorite, and me an adorable bag for shopping!!

Dubai World Cup

Dubai World Cup

On Saturday, we got dressed up and headed to the races! Little did we know we were going to be joining some of the fanciest ladies we'd ever seen. It was a "wear dark sunglasses" and "check everyone out" day!! Jill and I had a blast people watching while Jon and Steve were truly into the horses...but don't think for a minute they weren't gawking at all the hot babes and boobies!! It rained on and off and we even witnessed an engagement right before our eyes. Of course it was very romantic and brought tears to our eyes. We were in line getting our photo taken to be a part of the Ahlan! magazine...and a man proposed to his girlfriend right in front of us!! We will be buying all the magazines this week and hoping our "mugs" are in them. I'll let you know. As for being in the STYLE STAKES and HAT competition...we chickened out! We looked like the "poverty stricken" and decided not to be a part of it!! Our husband's told us we were beautiful and fit right in so that made us feel good. I took over 100 photos and there are some fascinating hats and clothes so if you have a minute or two I'd watch the slide show!! We had a nice time and Jon was in heaven watching the "horsies" run!! PS...Also includes the OLD lightning show I've already posted (d0n't know why??!!)...but goes well with the territory because the entire time Jill & Steve have been here it has been raining!

A Fun-Filled Day!!

Today we started our day out at Lily Pond for manicures & pedicures while the guys headed to the Dubai Mall. Jill said it was one of the best mani & pedis she has ever had! It was fun to just sit and chat! Jon and Steve walked the mall and took Fayth to the Discovery center. They saw penguins, sea otters, sharks, king crabs, jellyfish, sea horses etc. Steve really enjoyed the massive tank with tons of sharks & fishes. Then we all met up at the mall for lunch. I took Jill by the newest addition to the mall, THE DIVERS, there are two rounded walls with waterfalls and these silver divers are "diving" down the wall. It's pretty neat. We ate at the USA chain, Ruby Tuesday's! Kinda funny...they come all this way and we go to Ruby Tuesday's. After lunch, Jon walked back with Fayth and the three of us cabbed to "Old Dubai"... we shopped the bargains, I got two skirts and a hat for 16.22 US and Steve bought a magnet!! Whoopee...
Then we took an abra boat across the creek to the spice & gold souk. We had a ton of fun and laughed a lot. They found it so interesting and thought it was more like what they envisioned the "MIDDLE EAST" to be. Not, the area we live in and the hopping downtown Burj Dubai!! Jill was lucky enough with the bargaining skills of her friend, Suzanne, to score a beautiful pair of solitaire diamond studs!! As Steve said, "Now she has more than ONE stud!" He He He!! Samantha also scored a pair of pretty pearl earrings which happen to be her birthstone. Five hours later, we cabbed home, had pizzas and red wine for dinner, and fell OVER!! Today is the BIG DUBAI WORLD CUP...stay tuned...I'm sure the pictures of this "Fashion event of the year" are going to be amazing!

Ironing Pillowcases??!!

What has happened...??? Well, today, our former neighbors and friends Jill & Steve Carasso will be arriving in Dubai for an eight day visit. They are leaving their 9 month old daughter for the first time and coming on a get-a-way to visit us! We are excited to have them. Jill's sister has been nice enough to come Cary to watch their daughter Samantha. We practiced "SKYPE" with them yesterday to make sure they were 'up and running!'
So, where does the ironing pillowcases come in, you ask?? I just finished getting (our bed) which will become their bed ready for them. I ironed the sheets and pillowcases. REMEMBER...we don't have a "REAL" dryer here and they get crunchy if you don't take an iron to them. Normally, do I iron them for Jon and me...Heavens NO!!! But...I've become a little more bed & breakfasty since my folks visit last November. They even have Extra Special chocolate from ALRIFAI on their pillows. It happens to be some of the best chocolate in the middle east and there is a store is right near Fayth's preschool. We have an itinerary a mile long and some really fun things planned. This Saturday we will be going to The World Cup...horse racing event, Sunday to Atlantis...the biggest & newest water park around, and so much more. Stay tuned to watch our good times with Jill and Steve.
