Yes...rhymes with Pinkalicious our favorite story...but what is it??!! It's the world's largest candy store that opened it's doors yesterday at the Dubai Mall. We have been waiting and waiting...and now our "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" dreams are brought to life!!
The store is 10,000 sq ft. and filled with 3,000 different varieties of candy not to mention our favorite part, a HUGE GARRETT'S POPCORN SHOP!!! You are asking yourself...are you kidding me...and my answer is NO!! Oprah Winfrey's, and Chi-towns, famous popcorn since 1949, is now in our back yard in the Middle East!!
Side bar story...as I am typing this I am laughing outloud remembering a time when Papa Dick pulled over on Michigan Ave. and got yelled at by police officers while Gammy ran in for the sweet treat of hot fresh carmel corn!! He had a few "choice words" he used in the car as the officer was walking towards us...I just remember laughing outloud and chowing down on the YUMMY hot carmel corn as soon as Gammy got back to the car!!
SO, how did we kick-off our weekend...headed to the sweet shop at 10:00 a.m...just as the mall was opening to buy some carmel corn and candy!! The store is simply adorable! A giant purpose-built aeroplane forms the centerpiece of the store along with a large tree with lollipops hanging from it. The store carries varieties from the US, Australia, Italy, Spain, and Romania. There was a huge Hershey's and M&M area and an entire wall of Jelly Bellies. Not only was Fayth in heaven pushing around a kid-sized grocery cart, but Jon made a bag of Jelly Bellies bigger than his head!! I came prepared to take photos but my "bubble burst!" No Photography allowed in the store. However; just like Disney, you can pay a pretty penny and have a photo taken. Did we do it...ABSOSTINKIN' LUTELY!!! We wrapped ourselves in dress-up scarfs and smiled for the 12 year old taking our professional photo!! Glad we did it...it turned out cute!! (I took a picture of the picture for this blog...quality may not be very good...but you will get the idea!) So, after bumping into our friends KellyAnne, Ry Ry and Glenn...we made our way to the counter and dropped 35.00 on candy!! What did Suzanne leave with...??? POP ROCKS...and old favorite of mine. I had my hopes set on a candy lipgloss but there were none in site!!
So, any new or old visitors coming to see us...this stop has been added to my "famous" agenda!! Candylicious is quite the place to see!!
