Friday was a Fun Filled Day!! We headed to the Dubai Mall Promenade for a Children's Festival. There were clowns, face painting, pony rides (if you were big enough...someone wasn't happy about that), carnival food, and so much more. It was a HOT one but we stayed hydrated and walked around. Of course, all the Emirati people, oohed and aahed over Fayth...the little blondie blue-eyed thing!! It may seem scary to you, and did to me at first, but people actually come up and squeeze her cheeks, kiss their hand and then tap her cheeks, and just admire her so. It's her pasty white look that they find very beautiful!!
Then we headed inside the mall to cool off ,only to fall upon, a HUGE screen TV in the center of the mall with hundreds of bean bags chairs and families viewing The Lion King and other movies. I must say, this country does is up right for the kids. Everything is very family orientated! Kids are welcome just about anywhere at any time of day or night. Next, we went to see the 'fishies and sharks' inside the mall and have an "ice cone" as Fayth calls it. Yes, it was our treat before dinner. On our walk home not only were the fountains going off but the Emaar Boulevard, the street leading to our apartment, was having a "Taste of Cultures" featuring 20 countries from around the world. This "International Village" showcased artifacts, products, cuisines, gifts, and even some entertainment! It will be a two-week fun festival in the heart of downtown.
Finally, we made it home...hot and sweaty we went straight downstairs to the pool and jumped in. Would you believe it was 95 degrees!! May not sound refreshing, but in the dark with a cool outside evening breeze, it was perfect! After our swim we FINALLY had dinner around 8:00!
It was such a fun filled Friday!! All three of us passed out cold and had a great night's sleep!
