according to KA and Lauren at the mall today!!!
Where do I even start...?? O.K...the short version............and before reading don't be offended by the content!!! So, at the Dubai Mall, Shoemart to be exact, we were adult shoe shopping when Fayth saw the kids section, A HOT PINK BARBIE section, and went bizurk!! She picked out the most hideous pair of pink and white, gemstone, light up, flashy, BARBIE, Velcro, HUGE tennis shoes I've ever seen!!! I HATED them with a passion but she was in LOVE!!!!! So, after deciding not to make a huge scene, I let her try them on. Well, the story just gets worse. The minute she had them on she starts running, smiling, and beaming about the sneakers and I am DYING inside!! See she's never owned anything like them so they were like cool, new, and the "happening thing" like all the kids at school. KA is saying, THANK GOD I HAVE A BOY and LAUREN IS SAYING HOW "BEAUTIFUL AND FANCY" THEY ARE...JUST FEEDING INTO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I call Fayth over and give her a lecture...It went something like this..."Fayth, mommy has spent three years dressing you in gorgeous clothes, Gymboree, Janie and Jack, boutique dresses, wonderful shoes, bows, and making you look like the prettiest little girl ever. These shoes are UGLY and ridiculous and we live in Dubai, it's HOT here, and I will not allow you to have them." I just HATE these ugly shoes!!! " I think I gave a 10 minute lecture...and wouldn't give it up. According to Lauren...she said it was HYSTERICAL and she was nearly peeing her pants listening to this...SO, I decided she could call her daddy and ask him. (Don't know exactly why, except I was so perturbed I thought that maybe daddy could help??? Now that I look back at it all, THANKFULLY, he didn't answer the phone. BECAUSE if he did...I'm sure he would have said, "Sure honey, whatever makes you happy!")
Well, I then got up and starting pacing the shoe section searching for ANYTHING but the ugly HUGE joggers as KA calls them. FINALLY, I found some..."Ked" looking like ones, with SnowWhite, a favorite of hers, that I can totally tolerate!! Cute with a dress if need be and perfect for our Euro Disney trip this summer that Fayth doesn't know about just yet!!! So, I "talked em' up" and insisted LAUREN DID THE SAME (see she loves princess Lauren)...and yeah she decided to like them now, too!!! She was SO excited she HAD to wear them home!!! So, we buy some socks, put those on, then put the shoes back on, and I quickly paid the cashier faster than I ever have in my LIFE and got the HECK outta the store~!!! Now, I know this all seems like a little much. BUT...we are all human and for some reason I just can't tolerate the look of sneakers with Fayth's wardrobe. If we had winter here...and jeans and sweaters...perhaps I'd allow it...but we don't and that's that!!! So, I guess not so short after all...but OH, MY...I think it may have been a "funniest moment" for any spectator but it definitely wasn't a funniest moment for ME!!!! And to all of those mommies reading this and saying to yourself...GOD...what a shoe snob...I'm NOT...I just don't like the Wal-mart looking light up shoes that ALL KIDS LOVE to LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember...I was a teacher for 11 years and saw my fair share of these shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay really?????????? What are you going to do when she wants to start dressing herself and the outfit does not match.
Samantha has a pair of gym shoes (mind you from Stride Rite) that I put on her with cuties clothes.
I feel you.....Ben never got the super ugly Hulk shoes that light up...I hated that junk! They slap a beloved character on any crappy thing to make your kids want it. Talk to you soon. Jill G.
This is totally me! I'll admit I'm a huge snob when it comes to my daughter's clothes and shoes! I have finally let her get some character pj's but I dread the day she sees some character shoes like the ones Fayth did. It's so hard to give up control! Speaking of clothes where is that super cute gray ruffly dress from? Great story by the way!
